GYTR Yamaha is the latest national team to announce its rider line-up for 2013, confirming Jay Wilson and Joel Dinsdale for the 2013 MXD season.

Yamaha’s factory-supported Under 19s team will see Wilson join Dinsdale on board Yamaha YZ250Fs as the team chases MXD success at the MX Nationals and the Australian Supercross Championships.

Jay Wilson comes to the team in his final year of in Under 19s motocross competition and looking forward to a big season. Wilson came on strong in the latter half of 2012 and wants to keep the momentum going in 2013 and finish his Under 19 stint successfully.

Wilson is a hard worker who puts in on and off the bike and wants to make every post a winner in 2013.

“At the end of 2012, I had to make a call on racing in MX2 with little support or doing my final year in Under 19s with a great team like GYTR Yamaha,” Wilson said. “It was a pretty easy decision to make and the transition to the Yamaha has been easy so far.

“The team has worked hard and already given me a lot of support and encouragement and I look forward to having a great year with them.”

After a successful junior career, Mackay-based Dinsdale joins the team as he steps into the senior ranks. Dinsdale has been the standout junior in Australia for the past few years but recognises that all means nothing as he enters professional racing.

“I know it’s a big step going from juniors to Under 19s and for me it’s not about winning races, it about trying to establish myself as a rider in the class and building my speed, experience and race craft,” he said.

“I’m excited to be racing in the MX Nationals and the chance to race on new tracks with an awesome team. I will be working hard to make the most of this opportunity and can’t wait for it to get under way.”

Team technician Darren Thompson is excited for the season ahead with an all-new rider line-up.

“With Jay in his last year and Joel in his first year, we have a good mix of age and experience,” said Thompson. “I have watched both riders closely over the past 12 months and I’m impressed with the hard work and their ‘never say die’ attitude.

“Both riders have the skill to win races and it’s our job to guide them and give them the tools to get the job done.”

GYTR Yamaha also welcomes Unit as a team sponsor for 2013. Unit will fit out the team in pit uniform and casual clothing while the riders will wear the Unit branded helmets.

“We look forward to working with Unit for the 2013 season,” Thompson continues. “The Unit brand and the GYTR Yamaha team make a solid partnership and coming to an agreement was extremely easy and I’m sure it’s the start of a long and successful relationship between us.”

Wilson will head to New Zealand in late February to compete in a couple of rounds of the NZ MX championships under the watchful eye of Josh Coppins, while Dinsdale will use Queensland’s Sunshine State Series as a warm-up for the MX Nationals which start on 14 April at Raymond Terrace.
