The countdown is on as Melbourne’s Calder Park Raceway prepares for the year’s first major event on the 2013 calendar, the InsureMyRide Melbourne Enduro-X on Sunday, 3 February.

The short history of the event has proven to be popular with the spectators, media and riders alike. At least three top riders from the US and Europe will be making the trip down under to take on a selection of Australia’s best.

Australian riders Toby Price, Daniel Milner, Jarrod Bewley, Ben Grabham, Chris Hollis and Tom McCormack are just a few of the top Aussie riders confirmed to contend amongst the world class lineup.

American riders Kyle Redmond and Wally Palmer have confirmed they will be riding the new all-wheel drive Christini bikes and are flying out to contest the event. Also confirmed for the event is Daniel Sedlak from Munich, Germany.

Redmond, a top five finisher at the infamous Erzberg Enduro, looks forward to visiting the country and is excited to be contesting the event.

“It is exciting to be able to race in Australia,” said Redmond. “I’ve always wanted to go on a vacation there. I’m so lucky to be able to see awesome countries like Australia, because of racing, and hope I can make the best of it.”

Fellow US rider Palmer also looks forward to the fast, fun and mixed terrain circuit on offer.

“I watched some video of last year’s Melbourne Enduro-X event and the track looks fast, fun and with a good mixture of terrain,” Palmer explained. “It will suit my riding style.

“I’ve always heard great race stories from my buddies who have been lucky enough to race in Australia. So I am excited for the chance to race, see the country and meet the fans.”
