Yet to confirm their plans for the 2013 Australian motocross season, MX Factory team owner Josh McFarlane says he is in the process of putting together a deal for his team to go racing in the new year.

The young team made its debut competing in the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals series, scoring solid results including an Under 19s round win at Moree with Luke Clout at the helm.

McFarlane says he is in need of strong manufacturer support in order to line up behind the gates in 2013.

“We are trying to run a team for 2013, but obviously with the way the manufacturers are at the moment, they don’t want to spend much money,” said McFarlane. “We’re working with a couple of different manufactures to try and make a deal happen. We definitely want to go racing next year, but unfortunately it costs a lot of money to do this and without any factory support it’s quite difficult.

“Basically i’ve given myself a cut off by the end of December to make sure that we have a deal in place. If we don’t do that, then we’re just going to concentrate on the retail of motocross and hopefully supercross for next year. As well as we want to do a bit more retail in the V8 Supercars series with a few different events.”

McFarlane explains that even though he looks to grow the retail aspect of his business, racing is his passion and he has been looking at multiple riders for 2013, both domestic and international.

“So we have a bit of direction trying to grow the retail side of things as well, but my passion is to go racing and we have been looking at a multiple of different Australian and overseas riders to do it,” McFarlane added.

“It comes down to basically the manufacturer that we’re talking to at the moment, coming back to us with a little bit more support. If we can get that, we’ll definitely be going racing next year.”
