Williams Event Management has announced a revamped MX Nationals, Australian Motocross Championship, for season 2013.

The series will introduce a new circuit in Swan Hill, Victoria, while traditional venues such as Raymond Terrace, Broadford and Toowoomba will make surprise returns to the series.

The combination of the four new venues will replace 2012 events staged at Coonabarabran, Wanneroo, Horsham and Moree, respectively. A western Australian event is scheduled for 2014.

A major restructure of the series will see two-day events scrapped for 2013, fuelling speculation that WEM will reintroduce traditional two-moto formats for the MX1, MX2 and MXD divisions.

Next year’s series will be conducted over 10 rounds with MX1 and MX2 featuring at all rounds, while the MXD category will contest eight rounds of the championship series.

The reduction from 10 rounds for the MXD riders is to create a wildcard opportunity for riders in the top 15 to try their ability as wildcards in the MX2 class.

A number of support categories will also be contested throughout the series as noted throughout the official schedule below.

“I’m delighted with the venues for the 2013 series,” said WEM managing director Kevin Williams. “We have a great mix of tracks and surfaces for the competitors – I’m sure we will see some great racing again.”

Tickets for 2013 will remain the same as in 2012 and WEM will has announced it will reveal some great new opportunities for spectators in the coming weeks.
