Fan Guide: 2012 Australian Supercross Rd4 Newcastle

MotoOnline.com.au has the ultimate guide to Newcastle's fourth and final round of the ASX series.

The 2012 Terex Australian Supercross Championships will descend upon Newcastle this weekend for a down-to-the-wire, championship deciding, season finale.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jay Marmont continues to leads the SX Open class as he attempts to successfully defend his 2011 title in the premier class.

CDR Yamaha’s Dan McCoy maintains his second place overall placing, sitting just seven points behind series’ leader Marmont.

TwoTwo Motorsports’ Chad Reed now sits third overall in the points chase with 15 points separating himself and Marmont, this gives Reed a mathematical shot at taking home the title after missing round one.

In the SX Lites class, Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing’s Gavin Faith maintains his series lead heading into the final round, the American rider has won two of three events to date.

JDR/KTM Factory Racing’s Ryan Marmont has moved himself into second place overall with his recent Toowoomba win, the SX Lites veteran sits just nine points behind Faith in the series standings.

Rounding out the SX Lites top three and separated from leader Faith by 15 points is Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Kade Mosig.

In the Under 19s division, Honda mounted Hayden Mellross continues to lead the charge. Following his recent Toowoomba win, a KTM 250 SX two-stroke mounted Kale Makeham now sits second overall, closely shadowed by Raceline Pirelli Suzuki’s Jay Wilson in third.

MotoOnline.com.au will compile an official pre-race Fan Guide ahead of every round in 2012.
