Berry Sweet/Lucas Oil/Yamaha team owner Craig Anderson isn’t ruling out the possibility of winning races in 2013 following the official announcement that the team has signed Tye Simmonds.

Team owner Anderson will retire from professional racing at the end of the 2012 season, which will allow the experienced veteran to concentrate solely on his team and rider’s success.

The multi-time Australian motocross and supercross champion looks towards taking wins and titles, making it known that they are not just out there to make up numbers on the track.

Securing Simmonds is a vital step in the team’s program, the 20-year-old expected to transform himself into a consistent contender next season under the wing of Anderson.

“This team isn’t here to run behind the factory teams and it isn’t here to make up the numbers,” said Anderson. “I want this team to take wins and titles, and we are all focused on doing whatever it takes to do that.”

With Simmonds’ raw talent and skill on the bike, Anderson believes this is the final ingredient his team needs to achieve the success they are aiming for.

“Having Tye onboard has just loaded us with the final ingredient and I can’t wait to start working with him,” he added.

Simmonds will compete in the premier class on the Yamaha YZ450F in both the 2013 motocross and supercross series.
