Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing’s Ben Townley is satisfied with his current progress as he contines to work on building a solid foundation for 2013’s racing season.

Townley returned from injury at Dubbo’s season opener of the 2012 Terex Australian Supercross Championships, only to suffer an unfortunate DNF result in the premier SX Open class.

After his disappointing round one result, the former American East Coast Supercross Lites Champion laid down a solid eighth place finish at Phillip Island’s round two of the four-round series.

“This was a definite improvement on the previous round,” Townley said. “Race by race I am making gains and that is all I can ask for. I have to think of the big picture and use these events to build a foundation for 2013.”

Townley finds it difficult to take a steady and slow approach to his racing, but believes it has to be done after suffering from his serious injury.

“It is hard to sit on the start-line with that approach but to come back from an injury like that, is a steady re-building process,” he added.

“Overall I was stoked to be part of this weekend’s event. Huge props to all involved it can only benefit our sport.”

The Terex Australian Supercross Championships now moves to Toowoomba in Queensland for round three of racing on 10 November.
