BCP Fox Honda’s Geran Stapleton put on an impressive breakthrough performance at round two of the 2012 Terex Australian Supercross Championships in Phillip Island over the weekend.

After kicking-off the series with a solid sixth place at Dubbo’s season opener, Stapleton rode his way to an impressive second place in the Phillip Island SX Lites main event.

The privateer rider says he was unaware of his placing throughout the 15-lap race while working through the lapped traffic.

“That was such a fun race,” said Stapleton. “I honestly had no idea I was in second place. There was so much traffic and it was kind of hard to tell exactly what was going on.

“I felt that I rode a lot less tense than what I did at Dubbo which made everything flow a lot better. My Honda was working great and I’m so pumped going into the last two rounds.”

Stapleton recieved loudest cheer from the huge Phillip Island Supercross crowd all day as he took home the top placing privateer award for the second consecutive time.

“I’m not quite sure why that happened, but it was very cool getting that kind of cheer from the crowd,” he added.

Stapleton now holds down second place overall in the SX Lites standings with just two rounds of racing remaining.
