With an already action-packed round two of the 2012 Terex Australian Supercross Championships slated to go ahead this weekend, another exciting edition has touched down on Australian soil to mix it up with the best.

Chad Reed, his family and the TwoTwo Motorsports crew have arrived and are quickly preparing to do battle at this weekend’s Phillip Island event, which runs alongside the MotoGP.

Reed will not only be bringing the hype and excitement of a multi-time AMA Supercross Champion, but he will also debut the 2013 Honda CRF450R for the first time in our country this weekend.

The Australian star’s decision to race the Phillip Island event and remaining rounds of the championship is one that Reed feels will help his preparation for the 2013 AMA season.

“There is no better test of where you’re at in terms of speed and fitness than getting out and racing guys you know are quick,” said Reed.

“In the US it’s their off-season – they’ve been at it all year and are having a break. I’m fit and recovered and really need to begin building up my race pace and I know the Australian riders are extremely fast and competitive.”

Reed is looking forward to racing in the MotoGP atmosphere which will be booming with the added importance of the event being Casey Stoner’s farewell ride.

“It will be amazing to race at the grand prix. The atmosphere is going to be something else,” he added. “It’s Casey’s farewell race and there are going to be hundreds of thousands coming down to Phillip Island for it – hopefully they get a chance to check out the supercross as well.”

Phillip Island will be Reed’s first appearance as a team owner/rider on Australian soil, be sure to stay tuned to MotoOnline.com.au for updates on the event throughout.
