Current Australian Women’s Motocross Champion Meghan Rutledge will be racing to defend her title at the 2012 Australian Women’s Motocross Championship in Albury this weekend.

Rutledge, 17, won the title last year in convincing fashion, winning all of her races on board her KX250F. The result was even more impressive considering it was her first year in the senior ranks.

Meghan has gained a wealth of valuable riding experience since her victory last year that should only help her cause this weekend. Since becoming the Australian WMX champion, Meghan has won a moto in the WMX class in the AMA series in the USA, finished on the podium in the WMX class at the German round of this years world championship, competed at X-Games in Los Angeles and finished in a respectable 13th place as the only female in the Under 19s class at the 2012 Australian Supercross opener last weekend.

“I feel really good. I’m the strongest and fittest I’ve felt in a long time and I can’t wait to get to Albury and defend my title,” Rutledge said.

“I know my speed has increased since last year and I’ve learnt so much from racing with the best in the world in other countries so I feel like I’m ready to defend my title. I’ll just give it my all like always and hope it’s enough.”

The 2012 Australian Women’s Motocross Championship will showcase Australia’s finest female motocross riders and will be held over two days this weekend at the Albury Wodonga MC Club. General admission is from 12:30pm Saturday and 8:30am Sunday and entry is free.
