Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing’s Ford Dale has jetted to Japan for the final round of the MFJ Japanese Motocross Championship this weekend, trying his hand at racing an unfamiliar track and opposition in order to maintain momentum between supercross events.

Dale will compete at the Sportsland Sugo venue on the Honda CRF250, the same machine he enjoyed so much success on during the recent MX Nationals season.

The Queenslander will realise a long-held goal to race in Japan, a move made possible with the assistance of his team. He said there would be lots to learn about the track and the style of racing but expected to settle in quickly.

“Racing in Japan is something I’ve always wanted to do and this event falls on an off weekend between Supercross events,” said Dale.

“The team has helped me out a lot – I’ve brought my mechanic Dan and I’m racing a bike I’m really comfortable on so it should be a good event.

“I’m trying to get myself back into the same relaxed approach that worked for me in Motocross and hopefully I can score a good result here and carry that over to Phillip Island next weekend.”

Fellow factory Honda teammates Gavin Faith and Hayden Melross will be appearing at MotoWorld in Mornington tomorrow where the Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing truck will be on display.

The event is part of MotoWorld’s 30 percent off storewide spring sale and will feature plenty of great deals, a BBQ and even a chance to win a 2012 CRF50. Also on display will be the new 2013 CRF450, the bike making waves within the industry. The event will take place at Unit 2, 151 Tyabb Rd, Mornington.
