A platform to build from was the end result of Motul Pirelli Suzuki’s Todd Waters’ sixth place at the opening round of the Terex Australian Supercross Championships.

Fresh back from competing for Australia in Belgium at the Motocross of Nations, 21-year-old Gold Coaster Waters secured sixth in the premier SX-Open category on the 2013 RM-Z450 despite limited time preparing for supercross.

Waters was content with his result to open the season, but intends to build on his form as the rounds progress.

“We’ve got a lot to build on and I’m grateful that we have a weekend off so I can do some hard training and get a bit of a flow happening in supercross,” Waters said.

“I just felt as though my intensity was lacking, so I’ll work on some sprints over the coming weeks and go from there.

“I was pretty happy with sixth for the night though, all things considered, so we’ll start from there and keep building.”

With teammate Matt Moss now out injured, scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery next week, Waters will line up as Suzuki’s lone 450 contender in remaining rounds.
