Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing’s in-form US import Gavin Faith became the first Monster Energy Triple Challenge bonus recipient after a dominant Dubbo weekend where he qualified first, won his heat race and the Terex Pro Lites final.

Iowa native Faith was thrilled with his performance and the pace his bike showed, allowing him to achieve the three necessary criteria.

The class Championship leader has set himself the challenge to repeat the feat at round two at Phillip Island next weekend.

“This is awesome, it’s great to receive the $1000 bonus from Monster Energy and it will go a long way for me,” said Faith.

“I’ve set a goal for myself to repeat this at Phillip Island and I firmly believe that’s achievable.”

The 2011 Pro Lites runner-up has been buoyed by his opening round result and was excited to be training and testing aboard Honda’s new 2013 CRF250 in the lead-up to round 2.

“We got some new engines following Dubbo as well as the new 2013 model Honda which is just an amazing bike,” continued Faith.

“This is the first time I have been given the chance to debut a new bike and to do it alongside Chad Reed, who will be debuting the new 450R, is unbelievable.”

David Ellis, events and athlete Manager of Monster Energy Australia and New Zealand, recognised Gavin’s consistent performance in the opening round and said it was great to see him receive a bonus after making a huge commitment to come down to Australia and race.

“Gavin is a great rider and has put together a great performance in the opening round showing that the Monster Energy Triple Challenge bonus structure is entirely achievable,” said Ellis.

“It was a fantastic round of racing and many other riders looked poised to achieving the same success however the unpredictable nature of motorsport reared its head and Gavin was the only to complete all three criteria on the night.

“It’s going to be exciting watching riders putting everything on the line to attempt to collect the other bonuses we have on offer – it’s a great challenge for what is a world-class field of racers.”

Round two of the Terex Australian Supercross Championships will be held on the 27th of October alongside the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix on Phillip Island.
