Jackson Strong will be looking to take home the win in front of his home crowd.

Back-to-back X Games gold medalist Jackson ‘Jacko’ Strong has confirmed he will contest the Red Bull X-Fighters Sydney finale next weekend.

The 20-year-old has led the sport’s progression by landing two of the most difficult tricks over consecutive years at the X Games.

The event will mark Strong’s first Red Bull X-Fighters showing of 2012, and, not a factor in the outright World Tour title fight, Strong is looking forward to battling the world’s best in Sydney and hopes to fly the flag his country in a podium spot.

“This is the first Red Bull X-Fighters event I’ve been able to ride in 2012 and it’s going to be a lot of fun and a proud moment to compete on home soil,” said Strong. “The focus is on the riders going for the title and they’re not going to be wanting to risk points.

“I’ve been working on putting together some solid combinations and getting the tricks that the crowd and judges want to see dialled.

“It’s definitely one of the more unique places that I’ve competed in and I’m hoping that I can use the home crowd to my advantage.”

The event will take place on the iconic Cockatoo Island within Sydney Harbour on 6 October, with some of world’s most recognised landmarks lining the background.

Seven nationalities will be represented at the event, which requires riders to qualify and advance through a series of head-to-head battles to determine grand finalists and an overall winner.
