Cairoli and Searle conclude GP season on top in Germany

Teutschenthal's German Grand Prix marked the final round of the 2012 FIM Motocross World Championships over the weekend.

Antonio Cairoli and Ken Roczen put on a show for the German crowd in the MX1 class.

Teutschenthal’s German Grand Prix marked the final round of the 2012 FIM Motocross World Championships over the weekend.

2013 MX1 champion Antonio Cairoli wrapped up the final event with the overall win on his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing entry.

His teammate for the round, Ken Roczen, put in an impressive ride in the premier class at his home round, bringing home second place overall.

Rounding out the MX1 podium was Rockstar Energy Suzuki World’s Clement Desalle, the Belgian rider scored his third place finish whilst still feeling the effects from a hand injury.

New Zealand’s Josh Coppins contested in the final GP of the season, and of his career. ‘The Lizard’ rode his Monster Energy Yamaha to 11th place overall, signing off on a highly decorated and long career.

Coppins is satisfied with his racing, and hopes to finish his career strong at the Motocross of Nations, his final professional event.

“I think I could have done another step up but weve run out of GPs and I hope to do well at the Nations,” said Coppins. “I dont have any regrets at all about retiring. It is time, and its time to move on.”

In the MX2 class, Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Tommy Searle finished his season strong in his final race on the 250, taking a clean sweep of both motos for the overall win. Searle will move to the premier MX1 class for 2013.

Second overall was Monster Energy Yamaha’s Zach Osborne, the American rider put in a solid showing in his final GP before heading to the US to contend the 2013 season under the GEICO Honda tent.

Rounding out the podium was Osborne’s teammate Arnaud Tonus, Tonus was able to put in an impressive ride to lock down his first podium of the season at the final round.

In the WMX class, Australia’s own Meghan Rutledge made her FIM Motocross World Championship debut. Rutledge scored 2-4 moto results to land herself an impressive third place podium finish in her first outing.
