World Motocross continues this weekend in the Netherlands

The FIM Motocross World Championship will travel to Lierop in The Netherlands for the 14th round of the 2012 series this weekend.

In the MX1 class, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli is slowly inching closer to his sixth world title, the Italian rider is currently 55 points ahead of Clement Desalle on his Rockstar Energy Suzuki World entry.

Desalle, hailing from Belgium, still remains a title chance if he is able to finish out the season strong, these final rounds of the series will prove crucial.

Sitting in third position overall is Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Christophe Pourcel. The Frenchman was recently sick and unable to perform at his peak, he now currently sits 90 points behind series leader Cairoli.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings will be in his element this weekend in the sands of Lierop, as he battles to take out his first-ever MX2 FIM world title crown.

Herlings’ arch-rival Tommy Searle is coming off of a 1-1 sweep at the previous Matterley Basin round in his hometown. The Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit rider sits in second place overall, 51 points behind the Dutchman Herlings.

In third position overall is Searle’s Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit teammate Joel Roelants. Roelants sits 46 points behind Searle in the title chase.
