Zero Seven Motorsports has confirmed that 16-year-old Freestyle Motocross rising star Jayden ‘Jayo’ Archer will join the team for the remaining two Monster Energy MX Nationals rounds in Moree and Coolum.

Archer boosted his profile late last year when he became the youngest person on record to backflip a motorcycle 75 feet at just 15 years old.

A protégé for some years of one of Australia’s most decorated FMX athletes, Cam Sinclair, Archer achieved many strong results as a junior motocross racer before focusing on FMX for the most part of 2012.

The opportunity for Jayo, as he is affectionately known, to join the revamped Zero Seven team, came thanks to his work ethic with day time employer SPMX, who is in charge of technical direction for the team.

Team owner Mark Haughton is adamant that the youngster is well deserved off the chance to race again against the best in the country.

“Jayo has been a great help to the team along side Powelly (Steve Powell) at SPMX,” Haughton said. “We have the bike there and I really wanted to offer him the opportunity to enjoy himself and get some experience in racing at a senior national level.

“We have placed absolutely no pressure on him – just to go out and have fun and represent the team to the best of his ability, which we know he will.”

Whilst Archer is no stranger to racing in his life time, he admits that he hasn’t had the chance to race at the senior level much this year and that this weekend in Moree he just looks forward to finding his feet.

“I’m so excited to get the opportunity to race with the Zero Seven Motorsports team,” he said. “Two weeks ago was my first senior race, so I’m just trying to get as many laps under my belt on the track again.

“I had been spending the most of my time working on my FMX riding. It’s going to be a lot of fun, I can’t wait to get out there!”

Archer joins team regulars Adam Monea and Dion Picard in the new-look 2012 team to round out the season.
