Zero Seven Motorsports’ Adam Monea found some of the vital consistency he was searching for at Appin’s round eight of the Monster Energy MX Nationals.

Appin was the first event of the 2012 outdoor season that Monea was able to keep himself off the ground in all three motos on the day.

With consistent moto scores, Monea scored himself a fifth place overall in the hotly contested MX2 class. A positive result for himself and his whole team.

“I really enjoyed racing today, but the smoother track definitely made it harder to pass,” said Monea. “In some corners there was lucky to be one rut, which means it’s difficult to find another line to make any moves.”

Monea says that he feels his speed is on-point and the consistency is coming on strong, a push for an overall win is the aim before the season wraps up at Coolum.

“I’ve been working hard to build my speed and consistency all year,” he added. “Lately I’ve felt the speed is definitely there, but finally this week I had the consistency and made minimal mistakes.

“I just need to string it all together and I’m sure we can challenge for an overall win before the season is over.”

Monea holds fifth position in the MX2 standings after eight rounds of racing, next up is round nine at Moree in New South Wales on 19 August.
