Jake Moss took another step forward in his 2012 MX1 campaign, scoring his second podium of the season at round eight of the Monster Energy MX Nationals at Appin’s Bellbird circuit on Sunday.

Moss took his privateer Campbell Mining Honda to the third step on the podium, edging out an array of factory mounted riders on the way.

The New South Wales native was able to carry out his main objective at his home round, laying down a solid result, while remaining 100 percent healthy.

“Yeah I got a good qualifying position which kind of made me happy for the day,” said Moss. “First moto I got a really bad start, but I still managed to pass some people which was good.

“Second moto I followed Todd [Waters] and [Josh] Coppins for pretty much the whole time, Todd made a little mistake and I got around him.

“I tried getting Coppins but he’s done this for a long time, so he knows exactly where I’m going to be.

“I was definitely wanting to win, but to stay healthy was pretty much the big thing. I’ve got no pressure on me which is good, but obviously they still want me to do well at the same time.”

With two rounds of racing remaining, Moss currently sits in sixth place overall. The series now heads to Moree for round nine of action on 19 August.
