Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey has raced to his sixth overall 450 Class victory of the season at round eight of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship in Washougal, Washington.

On the way to victory Dungey saw a challenge from the eventual second place overall finishing Mike Alessi.

Alessi was able to break Dungey’s 10-moto winning streak, taking out the moto one victory, his first of the season and also his first since 2010.

Dungey returned to take out moto two in dominant fashion, 2-1 scores assured victory for the current points leader.

Alessi put himself in the runner-up spot on the podium via 1-2 moto scores, while Chaparral Honda’s Andrew Short rounded out the podium in third overall with 3-4 moto scores.

Dungey left Washougal with a commanding 80-point lead over Alessi in second, sitting 103 points behind Dungey in third in Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jake Weimer.

In the 250 Class it was GEICO Honda’s Justin Barcia who took out his second overall win of the 2012 season.

Barcia made a mid-moto pass for the lead on Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin, along with GEICO Honda teammate Eli Tomac. The two teammates pushed to the finish for first and second respectively, while Musquin hung on for third.

Moto two saw a strong ride from Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett who suffered a sixth place finish in moto one. After an average start Baggett tracked down Barcia and took control of the lead, Barcia held onto second place while Tomac was third.

Overall Barcia’s 1-2 score landed him his second overall win of the year, while Tomac used a 2-3 combination to take the runner-up spot. Baggett was able to salvage a podium position in Washington with his 6-1 scorecard for the day.

Baggett maintains the 250 Class points lead by 11 points over Barcia after eight of 12 rounds, in third it is Tomac who sits 32 points behind the lead position.

The 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will take a break from competition and resume on 11 August, with round nine from Moto-X 338 in Southwick.
