The HSE Motorex KTM Desert Racing team is this week celebrating a month of desert racing domination following victories in the prestigious Finke and Hattah desert races. With its dominance, the partnership has now earned a satisfying four-straight wins at each event.

A team largely backed by HSE to focus on key desert racing events throughout the Australian landscape, HSE Motorex KTM Desert Racing has enjoyed the highest levels of success once again in 2012 with victories at both Finke and Hattah – two vastly different challenges for both man and machine.

Toby Price, who currently leads the Australian Off-Road Championship, won the Tatts Finke Desert Race in Alice Springs on 9-11 June, clinching his second victory in three years at the high-speed event aboard the all-conquering 450 SX-F.

Finke is the pinnacle of Australian desert racing, one of KTM Australia and HSE’s most important events on the domestic racing calendar. With weeks spent pre-running the unforgiving course thanks to resources provided by HSE, and an expanded crew featuring all kinds of individual assets, Price was ecstatic to deliver HSE Motorex KTM Desert Racing the win.

“It’s great to get that second victory and it’s one that I really wanted this year,” Price reflected after Finke. “All the hard work’s paid off, so I definitely have to thank HSE Motorex KTM for getting us out there – I’m stoked. It was just a lot of hard work and prep that we put in for this year.”

With the Finke victory in the books, the HSE Motorex KTM Desert Racing team then set their sights on Hattah in Mildura, Victoria, on 7-8 July. Price was again outstanding aboard the 450 SX-F, dominating the field and taking out his third consecutive win for KTM.

“The Hattah Desert Race came together really well in 2012 and it’s definitely nice to get another win under my belt,” Price added. “I was able to qualify fastest in the Prologue, which meant I could take off first and pretty much have a dust-free run on my way to win number three. It was a great win for KTM and for myself.”

With team regular and desert racing legend Ben Grabham injured earlier this season while competing, HSE Motorex KTM Desert Racing called upon Matthew Fish to fill in at the Indee 500 near Port Hedland in Western Australia on 14-15 July.

Coming off a fine fourth position at Finke alongside Price on debut with the team, Fish awarded the team with another engaging victory, this time aboard the KTM 500 EXC.
