HSE Motorex KTM Desert Racing’s Matthew Fish claimed victory on debut in the Indee 500 last weekend, held at Indee Station near Port Hedland in Western Australia on 14-15 July.

Filling in for injured team regular Ben Grabham, Fish rode a KTM 500 EXC to the win after a grueling 500 kilometres of competition, which featured terrain through the hard-packed Pilbara Desert, station tracks, rocky sections, sandy rivers and creek crossings.

“I was lucky enough to fill in for Grabbo and it was a terrific weekend,” Fish said. “I’d never done the Indee 500 before, but it was actually a really good ride with a great mixture of technical sections, river beds and open sections. It was a really good event to take the win in.”

Fish’s winning margin was around 10 minutes over the course of two days of competition, spanning a total time of over six hours for the entire 500 kilometre course.

Fish was also a guest of the HSE Motorex KTM Desert Racing Team during last month’s Finke Desert Race in the Northern Territory, claiming a promising fourth position overall in the event won by teammate Toby Price.
