Former British motocross champion Brad Anderson says he will need to work on his consistency in a bid to move up the ladder in the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals MX1 title chase.

Getting back into action at Hervey Bay’s round six after the mid-season break, Anderson found himself making small mistakes which in-turn hindered his chances at taking the overall win.

Anderson was still able to leave Queensland with a third overall in the MX1 class, a solid return after the series took an extended break after Murray Bridge.

“I thought I had the holeshot in the final race but there was a bit of a melee and I got pushed through the barrier and then had to turn back,” Anderson explained. “I worked my way up to second but made a mistake and Todd [Waters] got past me.

“All-in-all I was quite happy to finish third in our first MX Nationals event following the break, but I need to work on being more consistent.”

Anderson maintained his top three position in the points while gaining on MX1 series leader Josh Coppins.

“In terms of the championship I am still sitting third and made up some points on the championship leader,” he added.

With four rounds of racing ahead, Anderson sits 25 points behind series leader Coppins and just 13 points behind second place holder Todd Waters.
