KTM saw a clean-sweep of the Pirelli MX Development (MXD) podium at round six of the Monster Energy MX Nationals at Hervey Bay in Queensland on Sunday.

New championship leader Kayne Lamont aboard his 250 SX two-stroke won the round, picking up his third consecutive overall victory for the 2012 season. Lamont won the first moto and backed it up with a second in moto two, before he sealed the overall with a third in the final outing.

“I’m pretty pumped because I was able to keep it consistent, stay on the bike and score good points,” Lamont explained. “I’m confident that I can keep this form, it could be challenging, but I’m up to the challenge. Today was demanding, the track was good and I enjoyed it a lot.”

Completing the podium behind Lamont was Kale Makeham, who won moto two, and talented Victorian rookie Joel Milesevic was third. All three ride the 250 SX. Former series leader Dylan Long was sixth overall for the round, but won the final moto on his 250 SX-F.

KTM competitors currently hold the top two spots in the MXD standings, as both the two-stroke 250 SX and four-stroke 250 SX-F machines continue to dominate in this hotly contested class.

Lamont now holds a 19-point lead over former series leader Long with four rounds of racing to go.
