Monster Energy Kawasaki has confirmed that Jay Marmont will sit out the Hervey Bay round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals, effectively ending his run of Australian Motocross Championships.

Marmont, who joined Kawasaki for 2012 on the back of four-straight MX1 titles, has been forced out after failing to gain medical clearance following a recent surgery.

Post-surgery infection has delayed Marmont’s anticipated return following the mid-season break from racing.

“I’m obviously disappointed. It’s no secret that I’ve been riding injured and fighting through pain all year so I guess this is nature’s way of telling me to let it go for this year’s MX Nationals,” Marmont said.

“We’ve reassessed our goals though and we’re now very eager to get out there and win as many motos as possible in this championship.

“I’m looking forward to Horsham where I’ll be fit and ready and able to come out and give it 100 percent.”

Dylan Peterson will represent Monster Energy Kawasaki in the MX1 class at Hervey Bay, while Kade Mosig will be the sole team regular competing in MX2.

Marmont will return for round seven at Horsham, Victoria, but already sits 94 points in arrears of series leader Josh Coppins ahead of the Hervey Bay round.
