WRD Yamaha rising talent Wade Hunter has his sights set on making an impact in the Monster Energy MX Nationals after claiming victory in the Pro Lites of the Shell Advance Sunshine State Motocross Series.

Hunter has been a regular front-runner in Queensland during the 2012 season, claiming the title victory with a round to spare after finishing third at Leyburn on Sunday.

The 18-year-old trailed MX Nationals MX2 contenders Ford Dale and Kade Mosig last weekend, but he’ll now turn his attention back to the MXD class of the nationals for Under 19s competitors.

“Winning this series was one of the goals I had at the start of the year, so it is good that I can tick this one off and keep moving forward, especially one round early,” Hunter said.

“I now want to make an impression at the MX Nats and after good results here and at the Queensland Motocross Championships. I feel I’m ready to challenge the good guys at Hervey Bay.

“But this win couldn’t come without the support from Mike Ward at WRD, Yamaha and all the team sponsors, so thanks to them and also the Queensland motocross sub-committee and the series sponsors for their hard work in running the series.”

Hunter currently sits 14th in the MXD ranks of the MX Nationals after four of nine rounds.
