Williams Event Management managing director Kevin Williams has outlines a series of refinements that he’s hoping will improve the Monster Energy MX Nationals in the season’s second half.

Following a strong start to the 2012 series during rounds one through five, WEM has taken advantage of the mid-season five-week layoff to massage certain aspects of the program.

The MX Nationals will now feature a more comprehensive commentary team, with key commentator Kam Williams to be joined by a pit reporter and a series of special guests throughout the rounds.

“In the mid-season break, as much as we’ve taken time off, we’ve been looking to improve the product,” Williams said. “One of the areas that we’ve been looking to improve is the commentary.

“We’ll be adding a pit report who’ll be at the start line, give us updates, and we’ll also commentate qualifying as well.

“We’ve been running the FM commentary all year long, but we’ve been looking to get headphones available for the crowd to [help] listen to the commentary.”

In addition, WEM will continue to work on its social networking elements according to Williams, including the uploads of post-race interviews with the leading riders direct from the circuit.

“We’ll be adding some new video elements up and running,” he continued. “We’re aiming to capture post-race interviews pretty much straight after the race, so we’ll be hoping to get them straight onto Facebook for the fans to see within 10 minutes of each race.

“We’re just trying to provide more, because we’ve got a great crowd turning up to the track, but we also have a great following right across Australia and around the world.

“We just want to make sure we deliver more and help people feel a real part of what’s happening with the program, regardless of where they are.”

The series will return to action next weekend at Hervey Bay in Queensland, marking round six of 10 for season 2012.
