Cairoli and Searle take Grand Prix victories in Belgium

Antonio Cairoli and Tommy Searle have topped the boards with dominating performances in round eight of the FIM World Motocross Championships at the GP of Belgium.

Antonio Cairoli and Tommy Searle have topped the boards with dominating performances in round eight of the FIM World Motocross Championships at the GP of Belgium.

In the MX1 class Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Cairoli scored his fourth GP win of the season after winning both motos on the day, second spot on the podium went to Belgium native Clement Desalle, finishing up in with 3-3 moto finishes on his Rockstar Energy Suzuki.

Stepping onto the podium for third was Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Christophe Pourcel, the former AMA Motocross and Supercross contender took a 5-2 moto score.

Cairoli maintains a 47-point lead over Desalle in the MX1 standings, while Pourcel holds down third place.

Great Britain’s Tommy Searle took his Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit MX2 ride to the top of the podium, scoring a 2-1 result. After close battles with Jeffrey Herlings in both motos, Searle would prove the stronger rider on the day.

Current MX2 points leader Herlings took a close second overall for his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, the Dutch rider’s finish saw him hold enter and leave the round with his 24-point lead over Searle in the standings.

Behind Searle and Herlings it was Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jermemy Van Horebeek laying down consistent 3-3 finishes for the final spot on the podium, Van Horebeek maintained his third overall position in the MX2 standings.

Round nine of the FIM World Motocross Championship will roll into Uddevalla on 1 July for the GP of Sweden.
