Yoshimura Suzuki’s Brett Metcalfe took a satisfying sixth overall at High Point’s round four of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, big improvements to the bike throughout the day proved vital for the Australian’s performance.

After struggling in the 450 Class qualifying, Metcalfe put together two solid motos, finishing up the day with a 7-5 scorecard.

“I got great starts in both motos,” said Metcalfe. “The Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 was awesome off the gate and that helped me get up there with the front-runners.

“In the first moto, I ended up seventh but I learned what I could do on the track and how I needed to change the set-up for moto two.

High Point was not Metcalfe’s best finish to date, but the improvements made will serve as a confidence boost heading into round five at Budds Creek.

“In the second moto, I should’ve had fourth, but on the last lap I spun out and lost a spot,” he added. “But we made big improvements throughout the day and I’m looking forward to carrying that momentum to Budds Creek.”

Metcalfe currently sits sixth overall in the 450 Class standings, two points behind teammate James Stewart.
