Queenslander Michael Byrne left Freestone’s second round of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross satisfied with 11th overall, despite an ironman performance that saw him push his bike across the line in moto two.

The BTOSports.com/BBMX/Suzuki rider finished 12th in moto one and then managed to cross the line 15th in moto two even with his fuel mishap, resulting in a promising overall result of 11th.

“Up and down day today, definitely rode a lot better and felt stronger, but it’s not much fun running out of gas at the end of a moto in Texas,” Byrne wrote to his fans on Twitter @Byrner26.

“Still pumped to make some good progress though. Time to head home and get back to work for Denver.”

Byrne sat out the AMA Supercross season with a neck injury before returning outdoors, claiming 22nd at Hangtown before gaining momentum in Texas.

Following two of 12 American Motocross rounds to be contested in 2012, Byrne sits 18th in the 450 Class standings.

The series will now head to Thunder Valley in Colorado on 2 June, a track that Byrne finished ninth in moto two last season.
