MXN mid-season break vital for Gibbs' injury woes

The five-week mid season break in the Monster Energy MX Nationals series could not come at a better time for Serco Yamaha Metal Mulisha Racing's Kirk Gibbs, after pushing through the pain and riding while injured throughout the season.

The five-week mid season break in the Monster Energy MX Nationals series could not come at a better time for Serco Yamaha Metal Mulisha Racing’s Kirk Gibbs, after pushing through the pain and riding while injured throughout the season.

Gibbs was picked as a title favourite by many coming into the MX2 outdoor series, but a suspected fracture to the scaphoid bone in his wrist has affected the South Australian’s ability to ride at his full potential.

With the scaphoid bone being a notoriously slow healer, this break will be Gibbs’ best chance at coming back strong and healthy for the remainder of the series.

“Now with the five week break in the calendar, at least I will have some time to get on top of my injuries, get refreshed and ensure I finish the year positively,” Gibbs commented.

Keep an eye on Gibbs when the Monster Energy MX Nationals series returns at Hervey Bay in Queensland on 1 July.
