DPH Motorsport’s Cheyne Boyd is ecstatic after taking a breakthrough MX2 moto win at Murray Bridge’s round five of the Monster Energy MX Nationals last weekend.

After suffering a big crash in moto two, Boyd managed to come back and and win the grueling final 30-minute moto of the day, proving he has what it takes to win on a 250F.

Boyd’s final moto win moved him into second place overall on the day, which elevates him to third in the series upon return to the MX2 class for 2012.

“Murray bridge has always been good for me,” Boyd said. “I have won a lot of races here and love the track so I was pumped to go racing here again.

“I felt comfortable in practice despite the track being extremely muddy and slippery.

“As in previous rounds the one thing I have been working on is my starts and in all three races I was in the top three riders off the starting line so I was pumped with that result and finishing second in moto one was a good start.”

Boyd says he suffered one of his biggest crashes in a long time in South Australia.

“It was on lap three in the second moto that I had one of the biggest crashes I’ve had in a long time,” he added. “It was a big hit and I was really disappointed, but I remounted and managed got back to eighth place with my head still in the race.

“Moto three was another good start and I felt like I had the speed and confidence to take the lead. I sat behind [Josh] Cachia for first half of the race and then made the pass, I pushed the whole race and was pumped to get the moto three win for second on the day.

“The team have been great and the bikes are really coming together really well to suit my speed and style of riding.

“It was great to be up on the podium again for Team DPH Motorsport and Honda Racing, not only for myself but for my team and all our sponsors, I can’t thank them enough for their support and look forward to the last half of the season.”

The outdoor season now takes a break and will return at Hervey Bay in Queensland for round six of the Monster Energy MX Nationals on 1 July.
