Serco Yamaha Metal Mulisha Racing’s Luke Styke has ended his perfect Monster Energy MX Nationals MX2 podium streak in Murray Bridge, admitting it all came down to being impatient.

The current MX2 red plate holder had not finished off the podium since round one and took multiple wins during that time – a clean-sweep of all three motos at the Coonabarabran round included.

Styke still finished up SA with a respectable fifth overall, but is disappointed in himself for falling in the first moto and losing valuable points.

“I’m dirty on myself for that first race fall,” Styke admitted. “I was in good position but was a little impatient and tried to make a pass that wasn’t on and went down.

“It was the first time this year I have done something stupid and it cost me a podium.

“But I was able to claw back a few points in the next two races and limit the damage so it was good to finish the day strongly.”

Watch for Styke to come back riding strong and smart when the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals series returns for round six at Hervey Bay in Queensland on 1 July.
