JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha’s Davi Millsaps has finished a career best second overall in the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450 class standings.

Millsaps landed himself on the podium five times over the 17-round series, accumulating 266 championship points, taking second place over his closest rivals Ryan Dungey and Justin Brayton, who took third and fourth respectively.

The 24-year-old finished off his season with a runner-up finish behind Dungey at the Las Vegas finale inside Sam Boyd Stadium.

“It was a great battle there between a few of us. I had it pretty good through the whoops but it was a long fight for sure, but I was able to stay ahead and keep pushing,” Millsaps explained.

“To get second in the points is a big step for me and the team. I’m pumped, this is the best season I’ve had since I’ve got on the 450.

“The Yamaha has been running great and I want to thank my whole team. It has been an up-and-down year for everyone on it but we did the best we could.”

Millsaps will now head into outdoor mode, in preparation for the opening round of the 2012 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Hangtown, CA, on 19 May.
