The 2012 Red Bull X-Fighters series is set to return to America this weekend, as the world renowned event hits an all-new location at Glen Helen Raceway in Southern California, on 12 May.

Red Bull X-Fighters first hit U.S shores in 2009, when the event had its American debut in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Glen Helen course is set to be the largest in X-Fighters history, with 30 different riding options including a step-down, a bowl-curved wall, a quarter pipe and a 160-foot jump which will be the biggest ever in competition.

Chief course designer Dan Herron is excited to see all the action.

“This event is our Super Bowl,” explained Herron. “It is without a doubt the biggest and baddest thing we’ve ever had a chance to build. I can’t wait to see all the action on 12 May.”

After the first round took place in Dubai, New Zealand’s Levi Sherwood leads the series, while Australia’s Rob Adelberg sits in second with Javier Villegas from Chile rounding out the top three.

After Glen Helen, the Red Bull X-Fighters will head to Istanbul, Madrid, and Munich before heading to Sydney’s Cockatoo Island once again to cap off the 2012 season on 6 October.
