Troy Lee Designs/Lucal Oil/Honda have announced that privateer and former supercross winner Billy Laninovich will join the team as a fill-in rider, while the whole TLD squad is currently out with injuries.

With team riders Cole Seely, Christian Craig and Travis Baker now sidelined, Laninovich will ride the 250 at the AMA Supercross finale in Las Vegas this weekend, before jumping onto the 450 machine for a handful of outdoor national rounds.

Laninovich has been riding his privateer Honda in the AMA West Coast Lites series this year, finishing inside the top 10 and battling with the factory riders.

Being a former supercross winner, the TLD crew are hoping that with their equipment and his experience he can move further up the ladder.

“This is a really cool opportunity for me,” said Laninovich. “I was one of their first amateur riders when they started making gear so it’s cool to be working with them again.

“Troy [Lee] has always been great to me and hopefully this will work out for both of us.”

Watch for Laninovich to be battling it out this weekend in Las Vegas, as the East and West Coast Lites riders meet for the finale at Sam Boyd Stadium, 5 May.
