Team Motul Pirelli Suzuki’s Todd Waters has his eyes on the top step of the MX1 podium after scoring himself two podium finishes from three rounds of Monster Energy MX Nationals racing so far.

The 21-year-old took out 3-1-4 moto results in Wonthaggi over the weekend, showing he has the pace to contend for the top spot.

Waters was satisfied with his performance in Victoria, picking up his first moto win of 2012 in the second of the 15-minute affairs.

“My first two motos went to plan and I was able to take third in the opening moto and then win the next one coming from behind,” Waters explained.

“In the last moto I dropped it and I was anxious to get to the front, but I settled in and got back up to fourth and that got me second overall.

“I just really want to aim for the top step now.”

Waters currently sits third in points, 29-points behind MX1 series leader Josh Coppins of the CDR Yamaha team.
