International contenders Ben Townley and Brad Anderson have turned to the internet in a bid to learn the Goanna Tracks layout ahead of Coonabarabran’s second round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals this weekend.

The Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing teammates are new to the MXN series in 2012, anticipating a world class track that spans almost three kilometres in length come practice on Saturday.

“From what I have seen on the internet of the Coonabarabran track it looks like one that I am going to enjoy,” Townley said.

“It is a good-looking track and very Americanised – I am used to longer tracks and the good thing about a longer track is that it doesn’t get as abused throughout the day.

“I wasn’t feeling 100 percent at Conondale so I’m really looking forward to seeing where I am at in terms of my fitness this weekend.”

Based in Australia for the duration of the MX Nationals, British champion Anderson is also excited to see Goanna Tracks.

“I’ve had a good couple of weeks and done a lot more riding than I usually would heading into an event,” said Anderson. “I’ve worked on my starts and have been riding on a hard-packed surface in preparation for the weekend.

“I’ve been looking at a number of videos from last year to try and get a good feel for what the track will be like.”

The Coonabarabran complex is widely recognised as one of the best in the country when it comes to the track layout.
