New Motul Pirelli Suzuki recruit Todd Waters has confessed that consistency is a vital goal for him in 2012 after claiming a stunning podium on debut with the team at Conondale’s Monster Energy MX Nationals opener.

Waters raced to a trio of calculated fourth place finishes, benefiting from strong starts and first class fitness to seal third overall and top Australian for the round.

“It’s definitely where we want to be, we want to try and land on that podium every single round and try to be consistent,” he explained. “I finished with three fourth places today, which is what we need. I got good starts all day and they made my job easy.”

After an injury-affected number of seasons in the 450 class, Waters has his sights set on consistency throughout the 10-round series.

“When I came through juniors and the Under 19s I was always pretty consistent and that was my strength, but I kind of lost that when I jumped on the 450,” he reflected.

“I just wanted to win races, but I ended up on my head a lot, so now I just want to cross that finish line with good points every single time.”

Waters will aim to carry on his form when the series continues at Coonabarabran on 14-15 April.
