The 2012 AMA Supercross series heads into Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, this weekend, where Ryan Villopoto stands a real chance at clinching the Supercross Class title.

With his closest competitor Ryan Dungey sitting out with a shoulder injury and trailing 79-points behind, this is a perfect opportunity for Villopoto to go to Houston and wrap up the title, which he says is the plan.

Behind Villopoto, Justin Brayton has laid down two consecutive second place finishes in the last two weeks, making the most of the few front runners being absent, watch for him to aim for the same result in Houston.

In the East Coast Lites class Justin Barcia comes into Houston looking for his sixth win of the year, he currently leads the series by 28-points over Blake Wharton.

Barcia says he couldn’t be happier, with five wins so far and a solid points lead, the 2011 Lites class champion looks to be in great shape to defend that title.

But Barcia will be challenged the whole way by a hungry field eager to take that top spot, with Ken Roczen still yet to take a win, Blake Wharton already having one win under his belt and Darryn Durham right there also trying to take his first win.

We’ll have all the results when it concludes Sunday afternoon Australian standard time.
