Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing could be counting on Brad Anderson alone to deliver them the Australian MX1 Motocross Championship when the Monster Energy MX Nationals commence at Conondale in Queensland on 1 April.

Following confirmation of the predicted departure of Ben Townley to TwoTwo Motorsports to ride in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, team owner Yarrive Konsky has admitted to MotoOnline.com.au that the team could solely rely on Anderson for the title.

Townley is confirmed for the opening round and could potentially do more if his schedule allows, but it will be Anderson who flies the flag for Honda in MX1, while Ford Dale will be the team’s MX2 prospect.

“Considering the number of rounds that Ben will be competing at is yet to be confirmed, pending his departure to America, and the fact that Ben is committed to racing in the Australian Supercross Championship for us, we are yet to confirm whether or not we are in a position to put someone else on to replace him,” Konsky said.

“We believe that we have the two best riders in Australia on the team and I am confident of Brad’s ability to bring us the championship.”

Anderson is the current two-time British Motocross Champion and took a clean-sweep of the Raymond Terrace MX Nationals round when he was here last in 2010.

Honda does have two very capable satellite riders in line on privateer teams in Tye Simmonds and Jake Moss, however it’s understood that both are continuing on with their current programs at this point.
