Ben Townley has again taken the overall win in the second round of New Zealand’s Motocross Championships at Patetonga.

Townley was untouchable, scoring a hat-trick of wins in the MX1 class, taking the overall on the day and extending his championship lead to 18 points over arch rival Josh Coppins.

Coppins, a regular on the Australian MX scene, took the runner-up spot in every moto on the day. Finishing up second overall, he retained his second place position in the championship standings.

Fellow Kiwi and another Australian MX regular Cody Cooper rounded out the top three on the day, taking a third overall, moving himself up from fourth to third in the overall championship standings.

In the MX2 class, it was Darryl King who won the day, taking over the championship points lead, relegating Scott Columb to second overall in the standings.

The series now heads into Pukekohe next weekend for the third round of racing.
