Australian Dean Ferris has captured his first career victory in Europe at an international event at Crevillente in Spain over the weekend.

The ICE1RACING Kawasaki team newcomer won overall with second in the first moto and then a win in the final moto ahead of GP regular Jonathan Barragan.

“My qualification wasn’t perfect, but in the first moto I took the holeshot and really went for it,” Ferris said. “Unluckily my hands got numb and Barragan was able to take the lead from me.

“It was [a] struggle, so I’m happy with my result being second at the finish line.”

In the second moto, Barragan was able to take the holeshot, yet Ferris didn’t let him take the win in what was a confidence-inspiring ride.

“It was a good race. Barragan has taken GP wins, so it was great to defeat him,” Ferris added. “I’m very satisfied with the weekend and it gives me a good boost for training.”

The team will now continue to train in Spain due to the extreme cold temperatures in Central Europe and will likely race in Mantova, Italy next weekend.
