Review: 2012 Answer JS Collection

MotoOnline.com.au reviews Answer’s fresh new 2012 model James Stewart Collection.

When Answer signed James Stewart last year and revealed it’d be releasing a signature line, we knew that the American gear company would be certain to produce something special.

Stewart, regardless of what you think of him as a racer, has a unique style of his own both on and off the track, which is directly transferred through the JS Collection from Answer.

I first received a set of the JS7 gear from Australian distributor Serco late last year and then this year was lucky enough to get another few sets in the mail of Stewart’s latest line.

Technically speaking, the Seven pant platform features new lighter durable nylon and polyester fabrics. Strategically placed stretch panels create freedom of movement without restraints, according to Answer.

Both Spandex and Lycra are included in the pant’s liner material, making for a comfortable fit whether you’re in a seated or standing riding position. The comfort of the pant is first class and I’m a big fan of Answer (that was quickly confirmed last year when I first wore the brand!).

Genuine cowhide inner knee leather resists burning and insulates knees from hot exhaust pipes, plus another bonus is that they remain in tact over plenty of wash cycles. The knees are still all good to this day, so there will be plenty of life left in them.

Answer says the pre-shaped knees fit best in the ‘attack position’, which I won’t argue with, but a handy addition is that they also offer room for knee braces.

As far as the jersey goes, multiple mesh and stretch fabrics provide moisture wicking properties and ventilation. Vibrant fade-free sublimated graphics feature distinct prints, just like what Stewart wears in the U.S.

Alex Gobert puts the Answer JS7 Collection to the test aboard our Project Moto KTM 250 SX-F.

Other features of the jersey include a stretch mesh collar, padded elbows, micro Lycra cuff and extra long tail. The fit is perfect, ventilation on point and again, the wash cycles haven’t been a problem (and we can’t say that about all jerseys).

And if you want to customise your jersey with prints, be sure to check out SPP jersey transfers from Serco – we did a review of that product, so check it out here: https://www.motoonline.com.au/2011/07/22/review-spp-jersey-transfers-and-helmet-decal-kit/.
