The Melbourne Enduro-X is shaping up as the first national off-road race of the season this weekend at Broadmeadows MX Park in Victoria on Saturday, 4 February.

The top riders in the country have confirmed this week that they will be on the starting gate to take out the bragging rights and a pocket full of cash for the opening national event for 2012.

Toby Price, Ben Grabham, Glenn Kearney, Jarrod Bewley, Stefan Merriman, Chris Hollis, Josh Green, Matt Phillips, Mitch Harper and Daniel Milner are just a few of the big names that have already confirmed they will be on the gate for the event.

All the rocks, logs, tyres and material are taking shape to create a track that will challenge the riders and excite the crowd.

The racing format is like supercross with heats, elimination, qualifying and a last chance qualifier to get to the final. It’s in the finals where the top 10 in each class will battle it out for the win and the cash.

With each final limited to 10 riders, there are only enough positions in each class for 20 riders total. The winner of the Expert class will be eligible to ride in the Pro final, making that the only race with 11 riders in it.

The event is orientated to family entertainment and the excitement will commence from 11.00am when the qualifying heats begin.

And in case you can’t make the event, it will be screened on Speed TV, Youtube, and there will be a 30-minute DVD made up after the event.

Gates open at 10.00am on Saturday, with tickets only available at the gate.
