TwoTwo Motorsports Honda’s Chad Reed has again performed as top Australian in a difficult night for the Aussies at the Phoenix round of the Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship, series.

Reed and Yoshimura Suzuki’s Brett Metcalfe were the lone Aussies to qualify for the main events in Arizona, finishing fifth and ninth respectively in the 450 Class.

The night will be remembered for Ryan Dungey capturing Red Bull KTM’s first ever 450 Class victory in American Supercross (stay tuned for full report to come).

Honda privateer Cody Mackie crashed out of the lead in the 450 Class Last Chance Qualifier, forcing him to watch the final from the sidelines from the second week in succession.

JDR/J-Star/KTM’s Matt Moss was part of a controversial clash in the Lites LCQ, going down with Ryan Sipes after making an aggressive final lap manouevre. Moss finished fourth, missing the main event.

Teammate Ryan Marmont finished 16th in the LCQ after narrowly missing the main via the heat, now looking toward the Los Angeles round of AMA SX next weekend.

The Lites main event was won by last year’s outdoor champion Dean Wilson for Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki.
