Expanded support class line-up to boost Australian Motocross series

The Veterans Cup will return to Australian Motocross over two rounds in 2012.

Williams Event Management’s Kevin Williams has confirmed a number of new categories that will line-up alongside select Australian Motocross Championship rounds next year.

In what is shaping up to be a benchmark year in the Pro Open, Pro Lites and Under 19s, Williams confirmed that the Veterans Cup will expand to two rounds, as will the ATV quad races.

“The Vets will race in two rounds, one in the first half and one on the final half of the series,” Williams said, spreading the Christmas cheer ahead of the holiday season.

“Another class that will be included is the ATVs with a round in New South Wales and Western Australia. They will be the first two rounds of the Pro ATV Championship.”

In a significant step for rising talent, Williams revealed that junior development classes would return to the main stage at selected rounds that include two-day formats.

“Other classes will include the Junior Rookies and an 85cc Big-Wheels, bringing back the Kid Motocross days. It’s all about giving the younger riders and opportunity to race in front of the major teams and talent scouts.”

The 2012 Australian Motocross Championship will commence on 1 April in Queensland. Click here for the full provisional calendar.
