Sydney Motorcycle Show underway in Darling Harbour for 2011

This year’s Sydney Motorcycle and Scooter Show has officially commenced in Darling Harbour today, featuring a number of new 2012 model off-road bikes and equipment to be released.

Manufacturers including Honda, Husaberg, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki and Yamaha are all on hand at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, showing off their ranges ahead of the new year.

Highlights at the show are a number of brand new models including Yamaha’s heavily-revised WR450F, Kawasaki’s KX450F and Husqvarna’s TC250.

Australian motocross and supercross fans will be able to get up close to Jay Marmont’s title-winning CDR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha YZ450F, as well as Matt Moss’ JDR Motorex KTM 250 SX-F and Errol Willis’ Raceline Pirelli Suzuki RM-Z250.

For those interested off-road observers, Yamaha has Chris Hollis’ Ballard’s-built YZ450F that he won the Australian Off Road Championship aboard, plus both Yamaha and Honda have their Australasian Safari race bikes on hand.

The freestyle motocross-prepared CRF450R that Josh Sheehan won Sydney’s round of the Red Bull X-Fighters is on display at the Honda stand.

Other notable race bikes on display include Chris Blose’ Hart and Huntington/InsureMyRide KX450F and Ryan Marmont’s JDR Motorex KTM 350 SX-F on hand at the InsureMyRide stand.

Lusty Industries, which are strong supporters of national motocross, are also on hand to show off the new GoPro Hero 2 helmet camera, along with a selection of products from Ogio, VonZipper, DEFT and more.

Kawasaki’s Monster Energy-backed Showtime FMX team will also be conducting a series of FMX shows during the weekend.

The show will run throughout the weekend, beginning today and concluding on Sunday afternoon.
