CDR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha team boss Craig Dack has credited team rider Jay Marmont in the lead-up to this weekend’s final round of Monster Energy Super X.

Dack and Marmont are on the brink of capturing what would be their fifth title together and first supercross crown, with former national champion Dack continuing to admire the desire of Marmont during Super X.

While Marmont will wear the red plate for the first time during the series at this weekend’s finale in Ipswich, Dack said the team will stick to their regular routine this week.

“It was nice to make up the points today and get the championship lead, but the priority is to have it once the championship is over,” he explained.

“That being the case, as team we will continue to go through our regular weekly routine on the bikes and use the talents and skills we have in this team which got us into this position in the first place.”

At Maitland’s Hunter Valley round last Saturday, Marmont struggled with the 10th gate pick after crashing with Todd Waters in his heat race. A crash in the first final didn’t deter him, bouncing back to score two wins and second overall.

“I must also mention the determination of Jay,” Dack added. “Things didn’t all go his way today but he continued to show the fight that has made him a champion and to still finish second for the round is testament to his character.”

The fifth and final round of the Super X championship takes place this Saturday night at Ipswich in Queensland.
