Maitland redemption can't come soon enough for frustrated Gibbs

Serco Yoshimura Yamaha’s Kirk Gibbs says that tomorrow’s penultimate round of the Monster Energy Super X series can’t come soon enough for him as he seeks redemption following the Sydney round.

Gibbs had a night he would rather forget dogged by bad luck. Gibbs charged into the first turn in race one only to be a victim in a four rider pile up.

Race two and the outcome was much the same, only this time his race bike was bent beyond repair and had had to withdraw from that race and take to the spare bike for race three.

Gibbs battled on in race three to claim a seventh place, but it was small consolation for the talented South Australian rider.

“It was just one of those nights were nothing went my way,” a dejected Gibbs said. “I did some good laps in qualifying and posted some good times but that didn’t show up in the main event as I struggled to get through the first turn.”

“Next week can’t come fast enough for me now as I’m desperate to get back out there and put things right.”

Gibbs continues to recover from a collarbone fracture, suffered just weeks out from last month’s series opener in Melbourne.
